Facilities

The Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences is located on a beautiful hilltop setting overlooking the Stanford University campus and the San Francisco Bay. The Center buildings were designed by the distinguished San Francisco architect William Wurster within a very modest budget. They have continued to serve their original purpose admirably and have been awarded many architectural prizes.
CASBS's 196,000 sq. ft. hilltop campus is an ideal platform for hosting groups; we have 54 studies, well-equipped meeting rooms, a conference hall, a kitchen and dining room with private chef.
Meeting Rooms
The Center encourages and supports interdisciplinary groups of scholars who work collaboratively on some of the most challenging intellectual problems of our time. One of the ways we support this work is to provide a private meeting environment where scholars can gather to benefit from each other’s knowledge and expertise. Our remote setting makes for a peaceful and productive meeting environment for scholarly meetings.
There are three rooms available for use at the Center. All rooms have WIFI access.
Studies
Each of the 54 studies is equipped with a desk, book shelves, filing cabinet and high-speed internet access.
Center Dining Service
The Center's Dining Service can provide hot lunch, self-service coffee, tea, hot chocolate and filtered water in the dining room. Self service iced tea is provided throughout the afternoon when the weather is warm. Lunch is served in the Center dining room from 12:00-12:30 pm Monday-Friday. Our chef provides a soup, hot entrée, variety of salads, and dessert daily.
Location
The Center is located on a hill overlooking the main campus of Stanford University to the east. It sits at the summit of Alta Road, which lies off Junipero Serra Boulevard. Junipero Serra Boulevard forms the western perimeter of the main Stanford campus and accordingly runs between the Center and Stanford. The northern perimeter of Stanford is Sand Hill Road. The eastern perimeter is El Camino Real. The southern perimeter is Stanford Avenue.
